Achaar Gosht (pickle meat) is a famous Pakistani dish. Don't be fooled by the name, we are not going to add achaar (pickle) init. Firstly marinate meat in a mixture of spices. Then cook it until tender. It is called Achaar Gosht. Its taste is mouth-watering and smells so good.

Usually, on special occasions, festivals, and get-togethers achaar gosht is a compulsory dish. 

As achaar gosht is a tasty dish but its recipe is quite different from other curry or meat recipes. Because it has 3 important steps and achaar gosht is ready.  Just follow this easy, authentic, and step-by-step recipe to cook amazingly tasty achaar gosht.

So without wasting time let's get started.

Time required: 2 hours for preparations & 1 hour for cooking 

Servings: 5 to7 persons 

Ingredients:

  1. Meat (Beef, Chicken, Mutton):1/2 kg
  2. Oil: half cup 
  3. Onion: 1 medium-sized
  4. Tomatoes: 1 medium-sized 
  5. Green chilies: 6
Achaar Gosht masala (Spice ):
  1. Salt according to taste 
  2. Red chilies powder: half tsp 
  3. Turmeric powder: 1 tsp
  4. Fennel seeds crushed: half tsp 
  5. Fenugreek seed crushed: half tsp 
  6. Chili flakes:1 tsp 
  7. Whole spice powder(Garam masala):half tsp
  8. Nigella seeds crushed: half tsp 
  9. Cumin seeds crushed: half tsp 
  10. Lemon juice: 1 tsp 
  11. Yogurt or Curd: 1 and a half cups
  12.  Ginger garlic paste: 1 tsp 

Recipe:

  • In a bowl add salt,  red chili powder, turmeric powder, crushed fennel seeds, crushed fenugreek seeds, whole spice powder, chili flakes, crushed cumin seeds, and Nigella seeds. Mix well. This is achaar gosht masala. 
  • Take 1 tsp of achaar gosht masala in 1 tsp of lemon juice in a small cup and set aside for green chili filling.
  • Slit green chilies and deseed them. Then refill them with this mixture of achaar gosht masala and lemon juice. Let them rest in the fridge.

  • Now in the remaining achaar gosht masala add curd,  and ginger garlic paste, and mix well to make a smooth mixture.
  • In this mixture add meat, mix well and marinate for 2 hours.
  • In a pot add oil and heat. Add onion and fry till light brown color.
  • When the onion gets light brown transfer the onion to a grinder, add tomatoes, and half a cup of water, and make a paste.
  • Add this paste to oil again. Cook for  2 to 3 minutes. Then add marinated meat to it and mix well. 
  • Cook for 5 to 10 minutes then add 1 cup of water.
  • Cook until meat tenders. Stir in between. Also, add water if required.
  • Cook until oil separates and meat is tender.
  • Then add masala-filled chilies. Let simmer for 5 to 10 minutes on low flame.
  • Achaar gosht is ready to serve.

Garnish:

  • Sprinkle fresh coriander and green chilies.
