Doi mach is a Bengali fish in based gravy dish. It is famous in Bangladesh and India. It has a simple delicious recipe. Try it once and let me know about your experience.
Time required: 20 to 25 minutes
Serves: 3 to 5 persons
Ingredients:
- 500-gm rohu or mrigal Fish
- ¼ tsp turmeric
- ½ tsp salt
- 3 tbsp cooking oil
- 2 bay leaves
- 7 cloves
- 2 medium onion paste
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp turmeric
- 1 tbsp ginger paste
- ½ cup yogurt + 1 tsp sugar
- ¼ tsp garam masala
- ½ cup water
- 4-5 green chilies
- 2 tbsp friend onions
Recipe:
1. Coat fish pieces well with turmeric and salt. marinade for 5 to 10 minutes. 2. Fry them in cooking oil until light brown then set aside.
3. Using a separate pan, add cooking oil, bay leaves, cloves, onion paste, salt to taste and turmeric.
4. Stir in ginger paste and sauté for 5-6 minutes on medium heat.
5. Gradual splashes of water while stirring continuously.
6. Lower the heat and add plain yogurt. whist yogurt then add to pan.
7. Sauté for another 2-3 minutes.
8. Add garam masala (whole spice powder) and fish pieces. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes.
9. Pour water and add green chilies.
10. Cook for 4-5 minutes with lid on.
11. Garnish with friend onions.
Serve:
- Garnish with fresh coriander.
- Serve Doi mach with white boiled rice.
- Enjoy.
