Momos are introduced by Nepal. They are also dumplings. Dumplings are famous around the world, especially in this South Asian countries, Nepal, China, India, and Pakistan. They are stuffed with meat or veggies. They are an all-time favorite of foodies.
I love to make them at home with my favorite stuffing. And I m going to share this amazing, super easy, and tasty recipe with you guys. Believe me, you gonna love it.
If you are a foodie and love momos then must try this recipe. Otherwise, you regret it. So without wasting time, let's get started.
Time required: 35 to 40 minutes.
Servings: 12 to 15 pieces.
Ingredients :
- All-purpose flour (maida): 1 cup
- Ghee or oil: 2 tsp
- Salt: according to taste
- Chicken: 1 cup boneless
- Capsicum: 1 and a half medium-sized
- Onion chopped: 1 medium-sized
- Green onion: half cup
- Green chilies: chopped 5 to 6
- Garlic crushed: 1 tsp
- Soya sauce: 2 tsp
- Chili sauce: 2 tsp
- Vinegar :1 tsp
- Black pepper: 1 tsp
- White pepper: half tsp
- Chili garlic sauce for serving.
Recipe:
- Boil chicken and cut into cubes.
- Cut vegetables in Julienne strips.
- Add flour, half tsp of oil or ghee, and salt, to a bowl, and mix.
- Add water gradually and mix until the flour comes together. Knead the dough till it becomes a little softer.
- Brush half tsp oil to the top, cover, and leave.
Stuffing:
- Add chicken to a bowl. Add crushed garlic, salt, peppers, and sauces, to the chicken and mix well.
- Cover and leave for 10 to 15 minutes.
- In a pan add 1 tsp of oil and fry the chicken for 1 minute.
- Add vegetables and cook for 3 to 5 minutes.
- Take it out in a cup or bowl.
- Stuffing is ready.
Make momos:
- Make small dough balls and roll them out.
- Make small balls if you like thin momos and medium if you like thick momos.
- After rolling them add stuffing and make momos in any shape. Apply water at the ends and fold them in the following shape.
- If you found these ways difficult simply fold them like sandwiches.
- Make approximately 15 to 17 balls.
- In a steaming tray brush oil and place momos
Steaming:
- Add water to a steamer or a pot in case you don't have a steamer.
- In a steaming tray brush oil and place momos.
- (If you don't have a steamer then use a strainer.)
- When water starts to steam place momos on it and cook for 15 to 20 minutes.
- Flame off.
- Momos are ready.
Serve with:
- Serve them with chili garlic sauce. It is an amazing combination.
