Time required: 40 - 50 minutes

Ingredients:

For the cake:
  1. 2½ cups (310g) all-purpose flour
  2. 2 tablespoons (16g) Cocoa powder
  3. 1 teaspoon Baking soda
  4. 1 teaspoon Sal
  5. 1½ cups (300g) Sugar
  6. 1 cup (240ml) buttermilk, room temperature
  7. 1 cup – 1 tbsp (200g) Vegetable oil
  8. 1 teaspoon white Vinegar
  9. 2 Eggs
  10. 1/2 cup (115g) butter, room temperature
  11. 1-2 tablespoons Red food coloring
  12. 2 teaspoons Vanilla extract

Cream Cheese Frosting:

  1. Makhan (Butter) unsalted 200 gms (room temperature)
  2. Icing sugar 1 & ½ Cups
  3. Vanilla essence 1 tsp
  4. Cream cheese ¾ Cup

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 350F (175C). 2. In a large bowl sift flour, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt. Stir and set aside. 3. In a separate large bowl, beat butter and sugar until smooth. Add eggs one at the time, beating until combined after each addition. Add oil, vinegar, vanilla extract, buttermilk and beat until combined. Gradually add the dry ingredients and mix after each addition until well combined. Add food coloring and mix. 4. Pour the batter into two 8-inch (20cm) round baking pans greased with butter and dust with flour. or you can use one pan and bake twice. Also you can use springrorm pan lined with parchment. 5. Bake 35-40 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. 6. Cool the cakes in their pans on a wire rack for 10 minutes. Release from the pan, then let cool completely.

Cream cheese Frosting:

  1. In bowl,add butter and beat until fluffy.Gradually add icing sugar and beat until well combined.
  2. Add vanilla essence and beat again.
  3. Add cream cheese and beat until smooth and refrigerate until use.
Assembling:

  1. With the help of the cake knife,horizontally cut two layers of cake.
  2. On cake tray,place cake layer and apply frosting.
  3. Place another cake layer and cover the sides of the cake with cream cheese frosting.
  4. Decorate & serve.
