Today I'm going to share my favorite dessert recipe with you. Which is Sweet Rice Or Zarda. Zarda has many kinds of tastes. The taste of dry fruits, sugar, rice, and especially its smell is tremendous. Believe me! It is something called mouth-watering.
It has a very easy recipe in which you mix rice with sugar syrup, add dry fruits, candied fruits, and colors at the top, and cook on low flame (Dum).
So without wasting Time read the recipe and Cook this yummy Sweet Dish.
Let's get started.
Time required :
For preparation: 4 hours
For cooking: 1 hour
Servings: 3 persons
Ingredients:
- Zarda Rice (sella): half kg
- Water; as required
- Salt: according to taste
- Green cardamom: 2
- Dry fruits (dry coconut, Almonds Raisins, etc):half cup of each
- Ghee: 2 tsp
- Zarda color: 2 tsp
- Green color: 2 tsp
- Red color: 2 tsp
For sugar syrup :
- Sugar: 2 and a half cups
- Cardamom:2
- Cloves: 3
- Salt:1pinch
- Ghee: 3 tsp
- Milk :1 cup
For garnishing:
- Dry fruits
- Rose petals
- Ashrafiyan ( candid fruits)
Recipe :
- Soak rice for 4 hours.
- Soak dry fruits for half an hour.
- Dissolve color separately in 2 tsp of hot water. You can also use only zarda color.
- Add water to a pot, add ghee, salt, and cardamom, and bring it to a boil.
- If you are using only one color then add that color directly to this water.
- Add rice to boiling water. When they are 3/4 done, strain them and set them aside.
- In a pot add ghee, cardamom, cloves, and saute for 1 minute.
- Add milk and sugar, when a blackish layer comes to the top, discard this layer with a spoon.
- Add rice and dry fruits to the sugar syrup and mix slightly.
- At the top, add dry fruits, and candied fruits, and add colors one by one in a circle.
- Cover and cook on low flame for 10 to 15 minutes.
- Now turn the flame off.
- Delicious Zarda Rice is ready to eat and serve.
Garnishing:
- They don't need any garnishing but if you garnish them with dry fruits, gulab jamuns, and rose petals.
Serve with:
- Serve them with biryani. Or after dinner and lunch.
