Halwa puri is a very famous breakfast dish in India and Pakistan. It is also a weekend brunch in Pakistan. Halwa is made of semolina fried in ghee with sugar, and water. And puri is a soft and fluffy fried bread. If you are Asian you already have tried this but if you haven't yet tried this. Then cook it and try it now. You'll love this.
Almost every time we prefer halwai's halwa Puri more than home-cooked. Why? Because of taste, our home-cooked halwa Puri doesn't taste like them. But no worries because I have an authentic recipe for you guys which will give you just the perfect taste like halwai's halwa Puri.
So without wasting time let's get started. Please it's a request to read the recipe till the end and follows every step to attain authentic taste.
Halwa
Time required: 30 minutes
Servings: 4 to 5 someones:
Ingredients
- Semolina:3/4 cup
- Ghee: 1/2tsp
- Sugar: 1 and 1/4cup
- Green Cardamom: 3
- Water: 3 cups
- yellow Food color: half tsp
- Kewra essence: half tsp
- Dry fruits for garnishing
Preparation:
- Mix food color in water.
- Cut dry fruits for garnishing.
Recipe:
- In a wok add ghee and green Cardamom.
- Add semolina and roast on medium flame until its color change to light brown. Stir continuously while roasting it.
- Add sugar, give it a good mix, and cook for 1 minute.
- Add water and food color. Mix well for 2 minutes.
- Cover and cook on a medium flame for 3 to 5 minutes.
- Add kewra essence and mix.
- Cover and cook for another 1 minute.
- Halwa is ready.
Puri :
Time required: 45 minutes
Servings: 10 to 11 Puri
Ingredients:
- Oil for frying
- All-purpose flour: half kg
- Salt :1 pinch
- Water: 1 and a half cups
- Ghee for greasing
Recipe
- In a big bowl add All purpose flour and salt and mix well.
- Add warm water, mix, and knee until everything is well combined.
- Made a soft dough punch and kneed it again.
- Grease the dough with oil.
- Cover and set aside for 15 minutes.
- Grease your hands and divide the dough into small round balls.
- Grease them with oil and again cover them for 15 minutes.
- Again grease your hands and flatten balls into a round shape with the help of your hands.
- Heat oil.
- Deep fry them in medium hot oil for a minute and take them out.
- Repeat the same process for all balls.
- Puri is ready.
Garnishing:
- Garnish halwa with dry fruits. Or place puri on a plate and add halwa in its center and serve.
Servings:
- Serve halwa with puries along with fried change.
