I'm sure you have tried many kinds of Biryani Recipes. Chicken Biryani, Beef Biryani, Mutton Biryani, Lamb Biryani, Veg Biryani, and many more. But have you ever tried Fish Biryani? If not then let's do this. Now, believe me, it tastes so good. Its aroma is also next level.Before moving to the recipe let me tell you one thing. Its recipe has a few important steps, firstly marinate fish for 1 to 2 hours. Then boil rice simply. Then make fish gravy. And add rice layer by layer. So it is the summary of Fish Biryani. It is very easy, just follow these easy steps and cook it yourself. Everyone gonna love this dish and your gonna be famous in the family for this recipe. Having this in winter is a blessing.
So without wasting time let's get started.
Time required:
Marination: 1 to 2 hours
Cooking: 1 hour
Servings: 4 to 5 person
Ingredients:
Fish marination
- Fish king Fish: half kg
- Whole spice powder (Garam masala powder): 2 tsp
- Salt: according to taste
- Curd: 1/2 cup
- Red pepper powder: half tbsp
- Turmeric powder: 1/4 tbsp
- Ginger garlic paste: 1 tbsp
- Coriander seeds powder: half tbsp
- Lemon juice: 2 tsp
For Rice:
- Rice: 3 cups or 1 kg
- Oil or Ghee: 2 tbsp
- Salt according to taste
- Bay leaves: 2
- Big Green Cardamom: 2
- Start anise: 1
- Cinnamon stick: 1
- Cumin seeds (zeera): half tsp
For the Fish gravy: - Ghee or oil: half cup
- Onion: 1 and a half sliced
- Tomatoes: 2 medium-sized
- Ginger garlic paste: 1tbsp
- Bay leaves: 1
- Cumin seeds: 1 tsp
- Green Cardamom:2
For layering:
- Fish gravy
- Boiled rice
- Fried onion: half cup
- Green chilies: 3 to 4
- Milk: half cup
- Yellow or orange food color (Zarda color): 1/4 tsp
- Whole spice powder (garam masala): half tsp
- Green coriander; 3 tsp
- Green mint : 3 tsp
Preparation and marination:
- Take fish pieces, apply salt evenly and leave for 15 minutes. Wash it properly.
- In a bowl add curd, red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, ginger garlic paste, whole spice powder, and lemon juice and mix well.
- Add fish mix well and marinate for 1 to 2 hours.
- Wash rice and soak for 1 hour.
Recipe:
- In a pot add water, green cardamom, star anise, salt, cumin seeds, cinnamon stick, bay leaves, and oil, and bring it to a boil.
- Add soaked rice and mix well.
- Cook rice until 3/4 done. Then strain and set aside.
- In a pot add oil or Ghee, onion, green Cardamom, cumin seeds, and bay leaves, and fry until the onion gets a golden color.
- Add ginger garlic paste and cook for 2 minutes.
- Grind 2 medium tomatoes with water and make a paste.
- Add this paste and cook until oil comes to the top.
- Now add marinated fish and cook on low to medium flame for 15 to 10 minutes.
- Then add fried onions and mix softly.
- Add half a cup of water and cook for 2 minutes.
- Flame off when the fish is done.
- Take out in a big bowl or pot for layering.
Layering:
- In that same pot, we cook fish add little gravy then add rice, then again add gravy and rice for the second layer.
- In the third layer add all the fish pieces and gravy then add rice.
- In half a cup of milk add food color and mix.
- Add this food color and milk mixture to the rice
- At the top sprinkle fresh coriander, mint, green chilies, and fried onion.
- Also, sprinkle whole spice powder.
- Now cover and steam cook on low flame for 15 to 20 minutes.
- Fish Biryani is ready.
Serve with:
- Serving is a tricky part, so take out Biryani with smooth hands.
- Serve it with cucumber Raita, kebabs, and chutney. Or eat as it is. It tastes awesome.
Garnishing:
- It doesn't require any garnishing.
